Review of BlackAdder

BlackAdder (All four Series)
Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, Tim McInnerny, Hugh Laurie, Miranda Richardson, Stephen Fry
My Favourite Comedy Series of All Time
Those of you who read this blog regularly might have noticed my penchant for classic British comedy. Red Dwarf, Black Books, Dad’s Army, even H’Allo H’Allo: there’s a place for them all in my heart, but BlackAdder, dear, precious BlackAdder takes the proverbial cake. For those of you who have never heard of it, take heed now, this is a comedy that will change your life, it certainly affects mine – every time I get frustrated at people a line from somewhere in the series pops into my head and it makes it easier to laugh instead of crying.
Basically the series, which ran for four seasons of six episodes each, traces the lineage of the smart, sarcastic BlackAdder (Atkinson, probably better known for his Mr Bean character) throughout time, accompanied at each stage by his faithful turnip-obsessed dogs’ body Baldrick (Robinson) and some of the biggest lunatics from history (Miranda Richardson, brilliant actress as she is, has never quite managed to shake off her hysterical spell as the spoilt, inane Queen “Queenie” Elizabeth the first).
Each season, therefore, has different minor characters (all spectacular, played by some of the best comedic actors England has ever produced), as the various Edmund BlackAdders’ descend from royal Prince to lowly Captain in the trenches of WW1. No matter what the scenario however, no matter what the situation, the writing, direction and delivery all combine seamlessly to produce what is (in this humble reviewers opinion at least) truly one of the best comedies the UK, or indeed the world, has ever produced.
9/10
Which was your favourite season?
Mine's got to be BlackAdder Goes Forth, but I'll happily watch any.

I think I'd probably have to go with the 3rd - the relationship between Blackadder and Prince George is a pisser.
